We are looking for a Lead Robotics Software Engineer

 Who are we looking for?

As a Lead Robotics Software Engineer for Adaviv, you will be leading software architecture design, development, testing, and deployment efforts for a variety of fixed, mobile, and aerial robotics systems. These systems are designed to offer scalable software architecture and reliable sensing hardware that will enable high-throughput data collection for applications such as plant growth monitoring and analytics. Therefore, your experience that is relevant to implementing advanced robotic, hardware-software integration and machine vision systems and simulations will be critical. You will be working with a small integrated team of experienced electrical, and mechanical engineers as well as machine learning, biological and data scientists in a startup environment. In addition to well-developed technical abilities, you must be able to demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills. 

The position term and status is flexible, from full-time to internships. There will be opportunity to be a long-term core member of this growing team and company.

Responsibilities:

  • Building machine-to-machine communications, sensor integration, and backend frameworks needed to enable real-time big data analyses for crops and plant systems.

  • Remain current with state-of-the-art developments in assigned fields of interest and provide insight regarding new and emerging technologies.

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to stakeholders via reports, presentations, and team interactions.

  • Work collaboratively in a tight-knit team environment; Manage computer science and engineering interns.

  • Present daily and weekly progress reports and design work plants aligned with established milestones and KPIs; track work-stream KPIs. 

Degree Requirement:

  • M.Sc or PhD in Electrical/Software/Mechanical/Robotics Engineering or similar field.

Skills Required/ Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in software development.

  • Domain knowledge in computer vision, image processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence and signal processing and experience with robotics algorithms in sub-areas such as sensor fusion, control systems, filters, target tracking, localization.

  • Expertise in exploiting modern embedded device and wireless communications prototyping tools and environments, including: Arduino, Raspberry Pi or another programmable SOC, Jetson, Mbed, git, Linux. Node.js, etc.

  • Savvy in libraries, tools, software, platforms, and development environments that are widely used in the field and in prototyping, such as ROS, OpenCV, Gazebo, DroneCode / PX4.

  • Solid programming skills in Python and familiarity with sensors, actuators, UI design, algorithms, machine learning, IoT, cloud technologies, hardware/software integration.

  • Understanding of principles of software development - Object Oriented Design, Design Patterns, Single Page Applications, Test-Driven Development and ability to independently carry out all phases of a software development process (analyze requirements, design, construct, test, debug, deploy, maintain).

  • Integration experience using interfaces and Web APIs in JSON and XML formats.

  • Experience with distributed source control systems - GIT.

  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on as well as coordinate work performed by AdaViv partners. Have the ability to operate independently as technical lead on product research and development projects.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial engineering experience with 3+ years of experience (recent graduates with exceptional functional and communication skills will be considered).

  • Broad knowledge of electrical/electronic control circuits and systems, including: circuit design, PCB manufacturing is a plus.

  • Mechanical Engineering skills including, basic machine design, light machining, welding, fixture design and mechanical CAD are certainly a plus.
