We are seeking interns in Machine Learning and Computer Vision
AdaViv was founded in 2018 by three MIT postdocs and one MIT Sloan student who are motivated to fundamentally change the way we grow crops using controlled indoor systems. AdaViv is bridging sensors and predictive modelling to advance indoor agriculture and unleash nature’s potential.
AdaViv is seeking highly motivated students, graduate students and researchers with a strong technical background in machine learning/vision and a passion for agriculture or sustainability to join the growing team. You will be immersed into a multidisciplinary group and have an opportunity to rapidly develop and apply your technical skills in a hands-on, diverse setting. You will have an “end-to-end” experience with our sensing and predictive technologies: you will contribute to the development of the mathematical and statistical tools that will extract important plant features dynamically as they grow.
You will also gain unique experience working in a fast-moving startup project and learn the tricks of the trade with the potential to play a larger role as we grow. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take part in a summer accelerator program and receive world-class training and experience in team building/organization development, markets, customers, and users - learning the mechanics of venture creation.
Participate in cutting-edge research in computer vision and machine learning applications.
Collaborate with hardware engineers and contribute to designing scalable data processing frameworks
Develop solutions for real world, large-scale problems in data-driven indoor agriculture
Currently pursuing a MS or PhD (experienced BSc. students will also be considered) in an engineering discipline, computer science, statistics, applied math or a related technical field:
Experience in Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Applied Math and Modelling, Data Science.
Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including: Python, C/C++, Java, or MATLAB
Contribution to research communities and/or efforts, including publishing papers and/or presenting at conferences.
Team player and passion to work in a highly collaborative, fast-moving environment and to see your technical work applied in an industry setting.
Interest in urban farming and indoor agriculture.
Ability to work in a collaborative team setting on open-ended research problems and deliver results.
Passion for developing creative solutions to mathematical, engineering or software problems
Experience or familiarity with point-cloud data, stereo imaging, 3D reconstruction.
Relevant work experience, including industry or lab experience.
Demonstrated publication record
Compensation and Benefits:
A stipend to cover living expenses (June - September) will be provided as well as opportunity for milestone-based bonuses and longer-term engagement. The position will also include travel and field trip opportunities within the region and potentially abroad.
